Samuel Jr. Young

Samuel Young, Jr., 85, passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Western North Carolina Baptist Home. He was a life long resident of Buncombe County and the son of the late Samuel and Argie Blanton Young. He was a member of Westminister Presbyterian Church, former owner and operator of Young's Poultry and a U.S. Navy Veteran during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Young, who died June 1, 2011 and a sister, Doris Gudger. Surviving are his, daughters, Katherine Mangum (Harley S.) of Fletcher and Martha Cupp (Ronald) of Charlotte, sons, Samuel R. Young, III and Edward Young of Asheville, granddaughter, Kerry Bates (Jason) and grandson, Jacob Samuel Mangum. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon Monday, June 20 at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. with military honors conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memory Team.
