Sallie Jean Ball

Asheville Sallie Jean McDowell Ball, 81, of 167 Delaware Place, passed away on September 27, 2014 at the Brian Center of Weaverville. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was formerly employed with Taylor Instruments and Ingles Warehouse and was a 1950 graduate of Lee H. Edwards High School. Mrs. Ball was the daughter of the late Ed McDowell and Sallie Morgan McDowell and wife of the late Kenneth Theodore Ball. Surviving are her children, Teresa Cantrell of Skyland, Brenda Ball of Vero Beach, FL and Mark Ball of Asheville; granddaughter, Erica Foxx and brother, Edward McDowell of Enka/Candler. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Friday, October 3, 2014 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen V. Oxner officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the funeral home.
