Asheville – Ruth Masters Israel, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 5, 2019 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospital. A native of Cherokee County, SC she had resided in Buncombe County for most of her life. She was a daughter of the late Enoch Garfield Ball and Alma Irene Westmoreland Ball. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, George Cecil Masters; second husband, Gordon Israel; daughter, Joyce Irene Masters Duckett; 11 brothers and sisters, 3 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. Mrs. Israel was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Cecil Ray Masters and wife Barbara of Asheville; daughter, Pauline Masters Rhodarmer of Asheville; sister, Lillian Parris of Asheville; brother, Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. of Emma; 6 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held 3 PM Tuesday, July 9, 2019 at Pisgah View Memorial Park with Pastor Rick McCarson, Pastor Steve Smith, and Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2:30 PM on Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: Sand Hill Baptist Church, 190 Moody Ave, Candler, NC 28715.
