Asheville - Ruth Burrell Craft, 80, of 18 Craft Drive, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2008 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Clarkesville, GA, she had resided in Buncombe County for the past 40 years. She traveled extensively with her husband to South America, Canada, Brazil, Columbia and much of the United States as he worked on pipelines. Mrs. Craft was a very compassionate lady who always thought of others before herself. She was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church for the past 40 years. She was a devoted wife, Christian, and volunteer to her church and community. Mrs. Craft was the daughter of the late Tom and Wilma Ledford Burrell. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Annie Mae Johnson; niece, Veronica Paulette Drury; and nephew, Lewis Johnson. Surviving are her husband of 60 years, Broadus (Bob) Zellars Craft, of the home; two nieces: Bobbie Jean Barber and Jessie Palombo, both of Maryland; two nephews: Howard Johnson of Leicester and George Johnson of Asheville; and numerous great-nieces and nephews and their families, as well as her extended church family. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Wednesday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, with the Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral home, as well as at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church following the graveside services.
