Ruth Bugg Chapman

March 28, 1916 — April 14, 2003

Candler- Ruth Little Ruthie Bugg Chapman, 87, recently of the Rickman Nursing Center of the WNC Baptist Retirement Home, and formerly of Israel Road, was gathered home into Jesus arms on Monday April 14, 2003 at Mountain Area Hospice after a brief illness. She was born in Haywood County, NC on March 28, 1916, the youngest daughter of Zora and David Grandpa, Bugg. She lived and worked for many years at Pisgah View Ranch in Candler and often spoke of the late Ruby Cogburn as a dear friend who was closer than a sister. Ruth retired in 1979 from American Enka Corporation after 23 years of service. She was member of Glady Baptist Church in Candler for many years, and most recently worshipped at Pisgah Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church and was a member of West Asheville Council on Aging. Ruth enjoyed life and liked to travel, work in her flower gardens, or just sit on the porch in the evenings with those she loved. She was an excellent cook, a loving Mother and a wonderful grandmother who delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her hands were never too busy nor her lap too full. Preceding Ruth in death were her parents; her sisters and their husbands, Iva Lee and Algen Chapman formerly of Canton and Mae and Hoyt Carr formerly of Brevard; two sons-in-law, Cruso Fouts and George Foster and several nieces and nephews Those who mourn her passing include her daughters, Mary Jo Foster of the home, Barbara Plemmons and husband, Bill of Candler and Tamara Trull and husband, David of Woodstock, GA. She will also be missed deeply by the grandchildren she held so dear, Bethany P. Robinson and husband, Calvin of Candler, Cindy P. Lovingood of Candler and Michael D. Trull and wife, Lori of Canton, GA. Ruth was a tremendous blessing in the lives of her great grandchildren, Sierra Brook, Meredith Ashelyn and MacKenzie Laurel Robinson: Christian and Victoria Tori Madison Lovingood and Anna Kathleen Trull. The time she got to spend with those who love her in this world was far too short. Our comfort is that we will all spend eternity rejoicing with her, in the presence of the Father. Services celebrating her life will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Pastor Bill Plemmons and Rev. Charles Sprinkle officiating. Interment will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home and at other times will be at the home of Ruths daughter, Barbara Plemmons, 90 Israel Road, Candler. Her children arise and call her blessed: .... a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised. Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her [raise at the city gate. Proverbs 31: 28-31.
