Russell Kinsey

August 21, 1923 — April 22, 2011

Asheville - Russell William Kinsey, 87, of Asheville, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center. A native of Hart County, GA, Mr. Kinsey had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. He was a heavy equipment mechanic and retired as Foreman from Carolina Tractor and Equipment. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, serving as a Signalman Second Class in the US Navy, and was baptized and confirmed in the Christian Faith at Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Mr. Kinsey was the son of the late Lester John and Eula Sanders Kinsey, and the husband of Eloise Marcum Kinsey, who passed away in July, 2007. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Marie Kinsey Bell; and sister, Hazel Kinsey Tritt. Surviving are his children: John William Kinsey of Arden, and Rojeanous Kinsey Rush and husband Mike of Candler; son-in-law, Richard Bell of Candler; grandchildren: Lt. Col. William Russell Kinsey and wife Debra, Tina Bell Bartell and husband Craig, Jeffrey Scott Bell and wife Linda, Sara Beth Kinsey, and Christina Rush Munn and husband Ben; great-grandson, Odin Richard Bell; sister, Helen Kinsey Hensley; and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, April 30, 2011 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Rev. Michael McFarland and Rev. Preston Wagner officiating. The family will receive friends following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 51 Wilburn Place, Asheville, NC 28806, or to the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813. Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the Kinsey family.
