Asheville - Ruby Farmer Boone, 93, of 206 Nicholas Drive, passed away Saturday, April 25, 2009 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native of Decatur, GA, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1956. She retired from Drexel Heritage Furniture Company as a plant buyer. Mrs. Boone was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a longtime member of the Choir and Sunday School class, as well as a member of the Womens Missionary Group. She belonged to the National Secretarys Association and was named Businesswoman of the Year. She was a loving mother and grandmother, and was a dear aunt and friend. Mrs. Boone was the daughter of the late Stafford and Minnie Farmer. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Hollis and S.T. Farmer; and a sister, Reuey Phillips. Surviving are her children: Wanda Poplin of Asheville and Sandy Daugherty and husband Dean of St. Louis, MO; granddaughters: Carla Poplin of Charlotte, Molena Poplin of Asheville, and Anna Daugherty of St. Louis; three great-grandchildren and three great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Don Welborn officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
