Roberta Bowman Greene

Leicester Roberta Aileen Barnes Bowman Greene, 81, of 80 Big Poplar Grove Road, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at her home. A native of Alexander County, NC, she had resided in Buncombe County most of her life. She retired in 1985 from American Enka Corp/BASF following 20 years of service, was a member for 50 years of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church where a member of the Margaret Roberts Sunday School Class and formerly served with the Buncombe Baptist Association as a Volunteer in the Media Center. Mrs. Greene was a daughter of the late Fred Barnes and Luna Catherine Stevenson Barnes. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Olin Bowman who died December 17, 1975. Surviving are her husband whom she married October 10, 1985, Hubert Daniel Greene of the home; sons, Robin Bowman and wife Deb and Dick Bowman and wife Donna all of Leicester, Kim Bowman and wife Cindy of Candler; daughters, Roxanne Wilde and husband Craig of Weaverville and Joey Outlaw and husband Tom of Asheville; step sons, Kevin Greene of Marshall and Michael Greene and wife Mirlie of Alexander; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and sister, Jo Ann Bennett and husband Tommy of Mebane. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, August 10, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Ronnie Owen officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:45 PM Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to: CarePartners Hospice, P.O.
