Asheville - Robert L. Cantrell, 78, formerly of 2 Morris Place, died Wednesday December 8, 2004 at Beverly Health Care Center following a period of declining health. A native of Transylvania County, he lived in Buncombe County most of his life. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a former member of the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. He was a son of the late Claude C. and Annie Garren Cantrell. He was also preceded in death by brothers, Hunt and Billy Cantrell and sisters, Virginia Brown, Margaret Bell, Allie Mae Riddle and Martha C. Stroupe. Surviving are his sister, Tillie Bullis of St. Cloud, Fl., several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon Friday in the Chapel of the Western Carolina Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain with the Revs. Jim Stroupe and C.W. Anthony officiating. Veterans rites will be conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. Burial will follow in the cemetery.
