Asheville – Robert E. Mirsberger was born in Hilbert, Wisconsin on May 12, 1933, to Joseph and Mary Mirsberger.

After graduating from Hilbert High School, Robert attended St. Norbert college where he met Julie, his future wife. He volunteered in the military in 1953 and served a tour in Korea. Upon being discharged he reentered St. Norbert College in 1955.


Robert and Julie were married in September 1957 and Robert graduated with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics. Upon graduation Robert joined the IRS and served in various positions in Fond Du Lac, Green Bay, Eau Clare, and Milwaukee Wisconsin. He continued taking positions in Chicago, New York, New Orleans, Seattle and ended his career with the IRS as director of the Manhattan New York district in 1993. Following his retirement from the IRS he spent the next six years as a consultant with the accounting firm E&Y.


Robert is preceded in death by his parents Mary and Joseph Mirsberger; wife Julie Mirsberger; son E. Joseph Mirsberger; daughter Jean Groce; brothers Joseph and Edward Mirsberger; sisters Verena Rossmeier, Armella Doherty and Helen Mirsberger.


He is survived by his son Robert J. Mirsberger and wife, Jennifer; Grandchildren Robert J. Mirsberger Jr., Micah James Mirsberger, Kenneth A. Meyer, Tara L. Meyer, Haley Groce, Julian Groce; great grandchildren Aubree and Autumn Mirsberger along with many nieces and nephews.
