Richard Mashburn

Fletcher - Charles Richard Mashburn, 63, of 135 Old Hendersonville Highway, passed away Sunday, February 28, 2010 at his home. A native of Buncombe County, he worked in construction as a carpenter and attended the Asheville Family Church. He was the son of the late Jesse Edmond and Pearl Rachel Rector Mashburn. He was also preceded in death by a son, Christopher George Mashburn. Surviving are his wife, Meritta Skelton Mashburn, of the home; children: Charles Richard Mashburn, Jr. of Fletcher, Jerry Lee Mashburn of Black Mountain, Tommy Lee Mashburn of Fletcher, Matthew Mashburn of Leicester, Calvin Mashburn of Leicester, and Lisa Ann Mashburn of Candler; and brothers: Robert Mashburn of Asheville, Johnny Mashburn of Hickory, and Leon Mashburn of Asheville. Memorial services will be held at 4 PM Thursday at Friendship Baptist Church, with the Rev. Daryl Overton and Rev. Eugene Dodd officiating. Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center is assisting the Mashburn family.
