Asheville - Richard Schork, 89, died Monday June 23, at the Laurels of Green Tree Ridge. A native of Brooklyn, New York, he was the son of the late Frank and Johanna Gruen Schork. Richard was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving in WWII. After his service, he returned home and worked as a jeweler in New York City. When Richard retired, he moved to Sandy Mush, North Carolina, fulfilled his life long dream and became a farmer. During the past several years, he resided in West Asheville, where he spent many enjoyable days rocking on his front porch. Richard is survived by his wife Christine; sons, C. Neville Schork and Christopher Wren; daughters, Michelle Greene, Alyse Leotta, Julie Wiener and Chasity Conyell; 15 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and 17 foster children. The memorial service will be held at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, North Carolina on September 12 at 2:00 P.M. The celebration of Richards life will be held at the Ramada Biltmore West, Asheville, North Carolina on September 13 at 3:00 P.M.
