Weaverville - Rev. Lewis Timothy Tim Griggs, 66, of Weaverville, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Hospice Solace Center surrounded by his family. A native of Clayton, GA, Rev. Griggs had resided in Buncombe County since 1972. He was a retired Brakeman for Norfolk Southern Railroad, and was the former Pastor of Longs Chapel Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Vietnam War era. He was the son of the late E.L. and Iris Rogers Griggs. Surviving are his wife of 46 years: Jean Ledford Griggs; daughters: Sherri Michelle Cassada and husband Jerry and Rhonda Ann Griggs; grandchildren: Jessica, Alyssa, Lacie, Daniel, Michael, Desaree, Dawson, Tristan, and Tanner; great-grandchildren: Angel, Bobby, Malakai, and Leo; brothers: Roger Griggs and Andy Griggs; several nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog Yogi. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Phillip Emory officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 10:00 11:00 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
