Asheville - Rev. Raymond Hamilton Gasaway, 85, of 262 Pisgah View Rd. died Wednesday, May 1, 2002 at St. Josephs Hospital. A native of Jackson County, he had lived in Buncombe County since 1975. He was a retired Church of God minister, was retired from Union Carbide in Oak Ridge, TN, and was a member of State Street Church of God. Rev. Gasaway was the son of the late Victor Lee and Beulah Bell Womack Gasaway. He was also preceded in death by a son, Terry Gasaway. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Bryson Gasaway of the home; son, Jack Gasaway of Clinton, TN; daughters, Colleen Tucker of Briceville, TN, Wanda Gassaway of Asheville, Carla Whitson and husband Paul of Swannanoa, and Tula Cooke and husband Michael of Swannanoa; sisters, Maude Griffin of Candler, Pearl Davis of Tenn., Marie Pitts of Whittier, and Ethel Baines of Maryland; brothers, Lewis Gasaway of Tenn., and Frank Gasaway of Bryson City; 13 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Aaron Phillips, Rev. Daniel Allen, and his grandson, Rev. Dale Whitson officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 until 9 PM Friday at the funeral home.
