Asheville - On Christmas Day J. Lloyd Wolfe 96 years of age, entered Heaven that he had preached about for 65 years. He is now with his Heavenly Father and Gertrude, his wife of 62 years. Mr. Wolfe was born on November 11, 1914, in the Oakley community to the late Carl and Drama Wolfe. He resided at the WNC Baptist Retirement Home for the past 5 years. He entered the Ministry on November 11, 1945, and graduated from Fruitland Baptist Institute in 1951. He began his pastoral work in September of 1948, serving as pastor of Bald Mountain Church, Emmas Grove Church, State Street Baptist Church, Newfound Baptist Church and Deaverview Baptist Church where he served as Pastor for 12 years. All of the churches he served during his ministry were members of the Buncombe or Haywood Baptist Association. He retired from Grandview Baptist Church in Waynesville, NC on November 11, 1979, after serving as pastor for 12 years. He served 9 churches as Interim Pastor before retiring due to failing health. His greatest earthly desire was to share the gospel of Jesus Christ with his family, friends and whomever he came in contact with. He continued to tell others about the love of his Savior Jesus Christ until he was called to his Heavenly Home. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Gertrude Ragain Wolfe, daughter, Linda Falcone, great grandson, Angel Isaiah Massey, three sisters, Altha, Sue, Lois and brother Robert. He is survived by three sons and daughter-in-laws, Earl and Ruby Wolfe of Leicester, Ronald and Pong Wolfe of Surprise, Arizona and Bill and Irene Wolfe of Candler. He was the grandfather of Rev. Ricky Wolfe, Kim Jones, Jeff Falcone, Dominic Falcone, Jamie Thompson, Kathy Massey, Ivan Wolfe, Staci Ensley and Rebecca Gillespie; great grandchildren, Madison, Ashlyn, Dylan, Austin, Allie Grace, Kenzie, Kaelyn, Aspen, Elijah, Reagan and Reese. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times will be at the home of Earl and Ruby Wolfe in Leicester. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, at Oteen Baptist Church, of which he was a charter member, with his grandson the Rev. Ricky Wolfe and Rev. William Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery at Oakley. Honorary pallbearers will be Pastors or former Pastors in the Buncombe and Haywood Baptist Association.
