Asheville - Rev. Dr. Bruce Lewis Bartlett, 52, of 863 Merrills Cove Road, went to be with his Lord Thursday, January 5, 2006. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. Rev. Bartlett was Pastor and Founder of Bible Way Baptist Church in Black Mountain. He was a 1972 graduate of A.C. Reynolds H.S., attended Tennessee Temple University and graduated in 1976 from Tabernacle Bible College. He received two Doctorates from Emmanuel Baptist University in Ministry and Divinity and was ordained into the ministry at Homeland Baptist Church in Kannapolis. He formerly served as Assistant Minister of Swannanoa Valley Missionary Baptist Church and was the son of the Rev. Dr. Lewis O. Bartlett and Francine Lunsford Bartlett. Surviving in addition to his parents are his wife, Wendolyn Wendi Roberts Bartlett of the home; daughter, Elizabeth "Betsi" Freeman and husband, Chad of Swannanoa; grandson, Brett Edward Freeman of Swannanoa; sister, Lisa McLemore of Asheville. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Swannanoa Valley Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Don Penland, Rev. Dr. Johnny Cook, Rev. Dr. Bill Reynolds and Rev. Nelson Osborne officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
