Rena Austin

June 29, 1933 — January 15, 2010

WOODFIN Rena Mae Shook Austin, 76, of 1969 Riverside Drive passed away Friday, January 15, 2010 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Austin was the daughter of the late Lee Millard and Mae Blanche Capps Shook and was the wife of Robert Lee Austin who passed in June 1996. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Mary Louise Shook; brothers: Clyde Bernice Shook and Harry Leroy Shook; and grandson, Austin Cecil Eplee. Surviving are her daughters: Debra Weston and husband Oscar of Mars Hill, Gwen Gibson and husband Tom of Lenoir and Cindy Austin of Woodfin; sons: Robert Lee Austin, Jr. and wife Lynn of Mocksville and Rob Austin and wife Lisa of Asheville; 5 grand- daughters; 2 grandsons; 14 great-grandchildren; nieces: Delores Shook and Barbara Koontz; and nephews: Eddie and Gary Shook. Graveside services will be held 12 noon Monday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory with Rev. Dr. Louis Grant officiating. The family will receive friends 6-7:30 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Acid Maltase Deficiency Association, PO Box 700248, San Antonio, TX 78270, or to the United Pompe Foundation, 5100 N. Sixth Street #119, Fresno, CA 93710.
