Ransom Robinson

Asheville Ransom Robinson, 80, of 1314 Tunnel Road Lot # 195 passed away Saturday December 30, 2006 in Morganton. He was born February 18, 1926 in Burnsville. He previously lived in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and moved to Asheville in the 1970s. He served in the U.S. Navy during WW II on the USS Colorado and retired from the City of Asheville following 17 years of service. He was the son of the late Amos M. and Addie Simmons Robinson. He was also was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Hunter Robinson and his 8 brothers and sisters. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he loved his church family and was an honorary deacon. He loved the Lord and was a very humble man. He will be missed by his family and friends. Surviving are his wife, Jane Gray Robinson of the home;step-sons, Paul Gray and wife, Louise and Robert Gray and wife, Doris; step-daughter, Joyce Buckner and husband, Larry; sisters, Nell Ayers of Fairview and Essie Barrier of Drexel. He has many surviving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren including two special great grandchildren Luke and Kalah Dotson. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Wednesday in the Chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Revs. John Honeycutt, Roy Rector and David Crymble officiating. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Baptist Church Cemetery, The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
