Ralph Thomas Case

Arden - Ralph Thomas Case, 88, of 2533 Hendersonville Rd., Crescent View Retirement Center, Apt. #305 died Friday, January 2, 2004 at St. Josephs Hospital following a short illness. A Native of Asheville. Mr. Case was a veteran of W.W. II, Korea and Vietnam and retired following 23 years of service in the U.S. Navy where at the time of his retirement was a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He later retired from Taylor Instruments in Quality Control. Mr. Case was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge #781, Fleet Reserve Association Branch #361, VFW Post #891 and served as a volunteer with the Asheville V.A. Medical Center. He was the son of the late Thomas Melvin and Bertha Lance Case and the husband of Stella Mae Ellenburg Case who died August 11, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Paul Case and sister, Irene Moore. Surviving are a number of nieces and nephews including Helen Moss Blackwell of Virginia Beach, VA., Vernon Moss of Orlando, FL. and Dr. Sandra J. Anderson of Asheville, as well as great nieces, great nephews, cousins and other family members. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Emmanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. R. Mark Nieting officiating. Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with military honors conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Memorial Team. Pallbearers will be family and close friends. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
