RAY BRENDLE, 74, OF 223 FAIRFAX AVENUE DIED SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2000 AT GREENTREE RIDGE FOLLOWING AN EXTENDED ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF SWAIN COUNTY. HE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY SINCE 1944. HE RETIRED AS A CLERK WITH NORFOLK SOUTHERN RAILROAD AFTER 42 YEARS OF SERVICE AND WAS A MEMBER OF WESTWOOD BAPTIST CHURCH. MR. BRENDLE WAS A SON OF THE LATE FRED FISHER BRENDLE AND BERTIE CANSADA SHULER BRENDLE. SURVIVING ARE HIS WIFE, EVELYN CRAWFORD BRENDLE; DAUGHTERS, FLORA JOAN BAILEY OF OTEEN AND TAMMY RAY ATKINSON OF LEICESTER; SONS, LARRY LEE BRENDLE OF ASHEVILLE, RONNIE STAN BRENDLE OF JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA AND DONALD FRED BRENDLE OF THE HOME; BROTHER, CLYDE EDWARD BRENDLE OF BRYSON CITY; NINE GRANDCHILDREN AND THREE GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. SERVICES WILL BE HELD AT 11 A.M. WEDNESDAY IN THE CHAPEL OF ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME WITH THE REV. CARSON MOSELEY OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN PISGAH VIEW MEMORIAL PARK. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7 TO 9 P.M. TUESDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME
