Polly Sue Fortner Hyatt, 64, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at her residence surrounded by family. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a daughter of the late Robert Calvin Fortner and Mary Frances Ballew Fortner. Mrs. Hyatt was a member of Union Valley Free Will Baptist Church for all of her life. She worked for the Emergency Medical Services in Reems Creek from 1976 till 1994, and then for 21 years at Mission Hospital. Surviving are her husband of 30 years, Billy Hyatt of the home; son, Dereck Hyatt of the home; sisters: Ann Holder of Weaverville, and Nancy Branch and husband Tim of Black Mountain; father-in-law, Lee Hyatt of Weaverville; brother-in-law, Jimmy Walling and wife Pat of Weaverville; 2 nieces, 2 nephews, 4 great-nieces, 2 great-nephews, and many children she called her own. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 11:00 till 12:00 PM prior to services at the funeral home.
