Phyllis Dean Thompson

Phyllis Dean Waldrop Thompson, 71, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. Mrs. Thompson was a native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She worked for Clayton and Oakwood MFG Homes and was a member of Edgewood Baptist Church. She was the daughter of the late Phil Waldrop and Lucille Whittemore Waldrop. She was also preceded in death by her brothers: Freddie Waldrop , and Jimmy Waldrop; and sister, Sherry Waldrop. Surviving are her children: Russell Corn and his wife Robyn, and Nicole Thompson all of Asheville; grandchildren: Erika, Jackson, Laci, Travis and Austin; great grandson, Carter; brother, Kenny Waldrop of Asheville; caregiver, Lesia Craig and several nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 2 PM Friday, December 5, 2014 at Edgewood Baptist Church with Rev. Louis Gibson officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following services at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Sun Trust Bank, c/o Almeria Waldrop, 159 Smokey Park Hwy, Asheville, NC 28806 to help with funeral expenses.
