Asheville Phyllis Ann Johnson Currence, 94, of 107 Bear Creek Road, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 14, 2016 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church on Haywood Road. Our mother, as reflected by her daughters, was a sweet loving mother who loved to walk in her neighborhood, sit on her porch, and loved working with her flowers and taking care of her birds. Mrs. Currence was a daughter of the late William Herbert Johnson and Zula Mae Fairchild Johnson and the wife of James Albert Jim Currence who died in July 1995. She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Mills and brother, Bill Johnson. Surviving are her daughters, Phyllis Ginn of Marietta, GA, Linda Adams and Vicki Redmon both of Asheville and Susan Mills and husband Rick Price of Candler; grandchildren, Jimmy Ginn, Tim Adams, Meredith Redmon and Nathan Redmon; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Rita Israel of Hollywood, FL and several nieces and nephews. Private graveside services will be held at Green Hills Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Sprinkle officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: CarePartners Hospice, P.O. Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813 or Gideons International, c/o Madison County Camp, P.O. Box 1182, Marshall, NC 28753. The family would like to express a heartfelt Thank You to CarePartners Hospice for their love and care shown to our mother.
