Philip Ross Donehower, 65, passed away Sunday, December 16, 2018 at his residence. Phil and Amy retired to Candler 10 years ago to build their mountain home. Before retirement he worked for more than 20 years for the Federal Government in Information Technology. Philip was a quiet, peaceful, and loving man who enjoyed hiking, cycling, and playing pickleball. He was a gifted woodworker and loved nature. He is preceded in death by his parents, Wilford John Donehower and Helen Martha Spahn Donehower; and a sister-in-law, Susan Hand. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 35 years, Amy Donehower; brothers: John Jack Wayne Donehower and wife Elizabeth of Naples, FL, and Lawrence Larry Donehower and wife Michelle Smith of Severna Park, MD; sister-in-law, Sally Keeney and husband Michael Faukner of Weaverville; brother-in-law, George Hale Rutter and wife Melissa of Reno, NV; niece and nephews: John Donehower and wife Gretchen, Sarah Donehower, Michael Donehower, Benjamin Donehower, Nathan Hand and wife Christin, and Barron Taylor . Memorial services will be held at 6 PM Friday, December 21, 2018, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service on Friday at the funeral home.
