Paul Sheppard

Weaverville - Paul Pinkney Sheppard, 84, of 10 Deerpen Drive died Saturday - June 16, 2007 at the Asheville VA Medical Center. A native and resident of Buncombe County for most of his life, he was a U. S. Army Air Corp veteran of WWII and a retired electrical contractor. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Weaverville for over 50 years where he also served as a deacon. He was also a member of the WNC Pilots Association for many years. He was the son of the late Eugene Talmadge and Bertha Louise McElrath Sheppard. Surviving are his wife of 65 years, Awa Marie Snider Sheppard of the home; daughters, Sonna Johnson and husband Tom of McKinney, TX, Gail Smith and husband Bradley of Summerfield, NC and Paula Sheppard and husband Dale of Johnson City, TN; sister, Doris Rice of Weaverville; 4 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Weaverville with the Rev. Dr. Jim McCoy and Rev. Lee Roy Denton officiating. Burial will be in Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 P.M. Wednesday at the church.
