Weaverville - Paul Ramsey, 70, of 375 Bartlett Road, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005, at the Mountain Area Hospice Solace Center following a period of declining health. A native of Madison County, he had resided in Buncombe County for most of his life. Mr. Ramsey was the owner/operator of Ramsey Trucking Company, and attended First Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was the son of Myrtle Briggs Ramsey of Asheville and the late Arnold Ramsey. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce and Gerald Ramsey. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margaret Metcalf Ramsey; two daughters: Paula R. Jenkins and husband James and Kim R. Dillingham and husband Philip, all of Mars Hill; his son, Randy S. Ramsey and wife Teresa of Weaverville; seven grandchildren: Cassie Dillingham, Jaimee Jenkins, Karissa Dillingham, Paul Dillingham, Savannah Jenkins, Dane Dillingham and Megan Ramsey; his sister, Virginia Hall of Azle, TX; two brothers: Cecil Ramsey of Asheville, and Rex Ramsey of Atlanta, GA; an uncle, Harold Ramsey of Corbin, KY. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Worth Emory officiating. Burial will be in the Forks of Ivy Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be David Chandler, Charles McIntosh, Mike Ramsey, Bobby Burnette, James Jenkins, Harold Ramsey, W.D. Metcalf, Philip Dillingham, Paul Dillingham and Dane Dillingham. The family will receive friends from 7-9 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain Area Hospice, PO Box 25338, Asheville, NC 28813.
