Otto Mears Murray

Asheville - Otto Mears Murray, 77, of 136 Brickyard Road died Friday, October 29, 2004 at his residence. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during W.W. II and formerly was employed for over 12 years in the Housekeeping Department at Memorial Mission Hospital. Mr. Murray was a son of the late James Pinkney Murray, Sr. and Gertrude Cuma Haddock Murray and the husband of the late Betty Jean Clark Murray who died December 16, 1996. Surviving are his brother, George Burnice Murray of Candler; step son, Steve R. Clark of Asheville; sister in law and caregiver, Winona Clark of Asheville; special cousin, Glenda Johnson of Asheville; good friend, Bill Tweed of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. and Mrs. James Shields officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery with Military Honors conducted by the Erwin High School JR. ROTC. The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
