Opal Lee Pruett

Leicester Opal Lee Hawkins Pruett, 75, of 415 Ridgeview Road, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Pruett was a 1952 graduate of West Buncombe High School, and was a member of Mountain View Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Pruett was the daughter of the late Kelly and Thelma Hayes Hawkins. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Linda Ann Phillips, who passed away March 30, 2010; sisters: Beatrice Styles and Wanda Hawkins; and brothers: Houston Hawkins and KC Hawkins, Jr. Surviving are her husband, Jack Richard Pruett, of the home; granddaughter, Amber Marie Phillips and fianc Terry Holland of Asheville; great-grandson, Daniel Holland; sister, Christine King and husband Clyde of Leicester; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2 PM Monday at Mountain View Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. John Warren officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
