Oliver Burrell

Asheville Oliver Garfield Burrell, 85, of 34 Raleigh Road, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Burrell retired following several years of employment with Sayles-Biltmore Bleacheries. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, and was an avid C.B.er, using the handle of Wild Goose. Mr. Burrell was the son of the late Zebulon and Amanda McAbee Burrell, and the husband of Virginia Brown Burrell, who passed away in 1992. Surviving are his daughters: Deborah Downey and husband Mikael of Schertz, TX and Kathy Mashburn and husband Scott, of the home; son, Ronald Burrell and wife Marlene of Wilmington; 6 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at Pisgah View Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the residence.
