Novella Stills

FAIRVIEW Novella Stills, 78, of Fairview, passed away Wednesday morning, February 14, 2007 at her home after an extended illness. Mrs. Stills was born August 28, 1928 in Greene County, Tennessee to the late Rev. Bill and Lucy Metcalf. Mrs. Stills moved to Fairview in 1957 and worked for several years at C.P. Clare and was the owner and operator of Fairview Florist. She also worked with her husband and son as a partner in Stills Stone Company until her retirement. Along with her work, she also served many years as a Buncombe County Registrar and was a member of the French Broad Garden Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Stills and son-in-law, Tom Roberson. She is survived by her children; daughter, Edna Ruth Roberson; son, Steve Stills and wife Teresa Stills; daughter, Judy Stills; son, Don Stills and wife Susan Stills; son, Charles Stills; daughter, Linda Stills; and son, Kent Stills. She also leaves 13 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. An avid gardener, artist and craftsman, she loved the mountains and the beauty of nature. She will be missed. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Saturday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home. There will be a family burial. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Ed Robertson.
