Nell Buckner Mitchell

September 27, 1920 — March 16, 2005

Asheville - Annie Nell Buckner Mitchell, 84, of 58 Fulton Street, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at The Laurels of Summit Ridge after a lengthy illness. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she was employed for 12 years by J&S Cafeteria, and by the VA Medical Center ten years prior to that. She was the daughter of the late Troy Dewey and Diora Johnson Buckner. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Eugene Buckner. Surviving are her son, Ronald Earl Baker; three grandchildren: Kelly Marcelle Baker Wallace, Ronald Earl Baker II, and Paul Watson Baker; and three great-grandchildren: Kelsey Marcelle Baker Wallace, Ronald Earl (Trey) Baker III, and Thomas David Baker. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Gary Hayes officiating. Burial will be in the West Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 2-3 PM Sunday at the funeral home. The family would like to thank Mildred Crowder for all her love and support throughout the years, as well as Talmage Penland and June Langley for taking care of all of her financial affairs and looking out for her daily needs.
