Nathan Ownbey

June 16, 1932 — November 7, 2018

Clyde Nathan Ownbey, 86, passed away Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, he retired from Precision Products following 26 years of service, served as Coordinator of ABCCM for 14 years and also served as a US letter carrier. He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church and was a US Navy veteran during the Korean War. Mr. Ownbey was a son of the late Frank Alexander Ownbey and Mary Ruth Alexander Ownbey. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Curtis Franklin Ownbey. Surviving are his wife whom he married November 2, 1984, Eleanor Ownbey; children, Timothy Scott Ownbey and wife Karen of Enka, Steven Lane Ownbey of West Asheville and Cindi Dawn Ownbey of Belton, SC; step daughter, Gwen Boyd of Asheville; grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Thomas, Marcie and Alex; sister-in-law, Lois Ownbey of Asheville and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 12, 2018 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Father David Henson officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM Monday at the funeral home.
