Nancy Buckner Hunter

Fletcher – Nancy Buckner Hunter, 77, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at Mission Hospital.

A native of Buncombe County, she retired in 2002 from Bell South after more than 40 years where she worked in Communications. Nancy was a member of the Telephone Pioneers; telephone employees volunteer organization. She also was a member of the Communications Workers of America Local 3603 Charlotte NC, and served the union in the position of job steward representing her fellow co-workers through the grievance process.

She was a daughter of the late Harry Edward Buckner and Ruby Farlow Buckner and wife of Patrick S. Hunter who died in 1989. She was also preceded in death by her nephew, Billy Wright; and brother-in-law, Bill Wright.

Surviving are her sisters: Linda B. Wright, and Kathie B. Merriman and husband Michael; nieces and nephews: Shelley Wright, Jamie Warren and wife, Reba, Kara Villarreal and husband, Manuel, Amber Thurman and husband, Chris, Jennifer Palumbo-Wright, and many great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, June 1, 2024, in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with Rev. Dennis Thurman and Rev. Allen Rash officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 1 till 2 PM Saturday prior to services at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her great-nephews.
