NELLIE JANE COX AUSTIN DUCKER, 81, OF 435 McKINNISH COVE ROAD DIED SUNDAY, DECEMBER 31, 2000 AT THE MOUNTAIN AREA HOSPICE SOLACE CENTER FOLLOWING A LONG ILLNESS. A NATIVE OF SEVIERVILLE, TENNESSEE. SHE HAD RESIDED IN BUNCOMBE COUNTY MOST OF LIFE WHERE SHE WAS A HOMEMAKER. MRS. DUCKER WAS A MEMBER OF UNION BAPTIST CHURCH WHERE SHE FORMERLY SANG WITH THE UNION QUARTET AND ATTENDED COMMUNITY CHAPEL CHURCH ON NEWFOUND ROAD. SHE WAS A DAUGHTER OF THE LATE HARLEY BASCOMBE BASS COX AND MARY RAMSEY COX AND ALSO WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY HER FIRST HUSBAND, JEFF AUSTIN WHO DIED IN 1963 AND A DAUGHTER, ELIZABETH ANN AUSTIN WHO DIED IN 1943. SURVIVING ARE HER HUSBAND, VON DUCKER OF THE HOME; DAUGHTERS, SELMA JANE HARKINS OF DENISE, WEST VIRGINIA AND GLADYS LUCILLE WHEELER OF KINGSTON, GEORGIA; SONS, THOMAS RICHARD AUSTIN OF ASHEVILLE AND DONALD ROBERT AUSTIN OF ACKWORTH, GEORGIA; STEP DAUGHTERS, REVONDA RICE OF ENKA, RUBY GAIL ROBINSON OF ROXBORO AND JOYCE INGLE OF CANTON; STEP SON, AUSTIN DUCKER OF SKYLAND; SISTERS, BETTY RIDDLE AND LONIA LEDBETTER BOTH OF ASHEVILLE, RENA CANTRELL, BERTHA PARHAM AND LOUISE PONDER ALL OF LEICESTER; BROTHERS, FRANK COX AND PAUL COX BOTH OF ASHEVLLE AND WILLARD COX OF LEICESTER; 13 GRANDCHILDREN; 11 STEP GRANDCHILDREN; 19 GREAT GRANDCHILDREN; SEVERAL STEP GREAT GRANDCHILDREN AND ONE GREAT GREAT GRANDSON. FUNERAL SERVICES WILL BE 11 A.M. TUESDAY AT ANDERS-RICE FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL WITH THE REVS RANDY SLUDER, ROBERT HAWKINS AND DAVID SCRUGGS OFFICIATING. BURIAL WILL BE IN BEULAH BAPTIST CHURCH CEMETERY. THE FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS 7-9 P.M. MONDAY AT THE FUNERAL HOME. MEMORIALS MAY BE MADE TO HOSPICE, P.O. BOX 16, ASHEVILLE, N.C. 28802.
