Asheville Myrtle A. Pinner, 88, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, December 25, 2013. A native of Madison County, Myrtle has lived and worked in Asheville for many years. A former member of Wesleyan Methodist Church and former owner of Knollman-Pinner Florist, Myrtle possessed a contagious smile and a wonderful sense of humor. She was well loved by anyone who knew her. Her main goal in life was to be a good mother. She succeeded in that with 5 children. Myrtle was the daughter of the late George Washington Ellison and Hettie Keely Ellison. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jackie Ann Sams; four brothers, Kim Ellison, Ralph Caldwell, John Ellison and Dan Ellison; two sisters, Sadie Sams and Donie Lowe and a grandson, Phillip Coulby. Surviving are two sons, Carroll T. Sams and wife Carolyn of Candler and Randy R. Pinner and wife Debra of Hendersonville; two daughters, Gladys Y. Foster and husband James of Candler and Doris J. Stultz and husband James of Myrtle Beach, SC; five grandchildren, Justin Pinner, Liana Pinner, Kevin Poor, Penny Sams and Pamela Parks; four great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Little officiating. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:45 Saturday at the funeral home.
