Myrtle Lindsey Simpson

Asheville Myrtle Estelle Lindsey Simpson, 82, of 355 London Road, passed away Monday, August 13, 2007 at the John F. Keever, Jr. Solace Center. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Simpson worked for several years in the nursery at St. Josephs Hospital before becoming Dr. Richard Rogers nurse at Asheville Pediatrics. She was a member for many years at Biltmore Baptist Church, and, most recently, a member of Reed Memorial Baptist Church. Mrs. Simpson was the daughter of the late William Frances and Bessie Stewart Lindsey. She was also preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers. Surviving are her husband, Joe F. Simpson, Sr., of the home; children: Joan Miller Riddle and husband Larry of Newnan, GA, Beverly Miller Atkins and husband Dave of Hendersonville, Frank Simpson, Jr. and wife Sananda of Mills River, Robert Wayne Simpson of High Point, Brien Keith Simpson of Dallas, GA, and Tamara Dee Henson and husband Edwin of Boaz, AL; brother, Jim Lindsey and wife Margie of Asheville; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, 2 great, great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday in the chapel of the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Melton officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
