Mitsue Koga Hodge

February 28, 1927 — February 10, 2024

Asheville -Mitsue Koga Hodge, 97, passed away on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Elevate Health and Rehabilitation Center.


Mrs. Hodge was born on February 8, 1927, in Japan. She lived in Gastonia for many years and was a member of Loray Baptist Church in Gastonia. She is preceded in death by her grandson, Johnny Hiroshi Kelly.


Surviving are her daughter, Beriko “Betty” Fowler; granddaughter, Jessica Heather Pheagin; great-grandchildren: Taj Huggins, Pastor Johnny Kelly, Jr. and wife Regina Kelly; Dilon Shawn Mullins, Jamie Carver and husband Trevor Carver, Ashley Madison, and Elijah; and great-great-grandsons: Jackson Carver, and Elliot Carver.


A celebration of Mrs. Hodge’s life will be held at 4 PM on Thursday, February 15, 2024, at Oakley Baptist Church with Pastor John Alexander and Pastor Johnny Kelly, Jr. officiating. A private burial was held at Woodlawn Cemetery.


The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Thursday at the church.
