Minnie Allen Styles

December 15, 1906 — November 4, 2001

Candler - Minnie Allen Styles, 94, of 56 Ridge Road went to be with the Lord Sunday, November 4, 2001 following a period of declining health. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County. She retired in 1974 from Aston Park Hospital after 25 years of service. She was a member of Pole Creek Baptist Church where she was a member of the Adult Bible Class and Senior Saints Club. Mrs. Styles was the last of 16 children of the late Jefferson David and Eliza Warren Allen. She was the wife of Grady E. Styles who died September 16, 1990 and was also preceded in death by her daughter, Edna Mae Styles and a son, Bobby Allen Styles. Surviving are her son and daughter in law, John David and Jo Nell Styles with whom she made her home; granddaughters, Teresa Gilliam and husband, Rev. Gene Gilliam of Brevard and Deborah Kane and husband, Adam Kane of Asheville; great granddaughter Ryon Gilliam and great grandson Collin Gilliam both of Brevard. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pole Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Thurman, Rev. Dr. Johnny Tiller and Rev. Gene Gilliam officiating. Burial will be in Boyds Chapel Cemetery, Weaverville. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home and at other times will be at the residence.
