Mildred Yates

Asheville - Mildred Mary Jo Gibson Yates, 80, went to be with her Lord Saturday, January 5, 2013. Mrs. Yates was a native of Canton and had resided in Buncombe County where she retired in the 1980s from Deerfield Retirement Center as a LPN. She was a daughter of the late Arthur Haywood Gibson and Nancy Jean Kelley Gibson, wife of Ireland Bert Don Yates who died August 28, 1999 and also preceded in death by 5 siblings, Richard Kelley, Catherine Drake, Kenneth Gibson, Harold Gibson and Gary Gibson. Surviving are her children, Debbie Fleck (Frank) of Waynesville, Danny Yates (Terri) of Asheville and Timmy Yates (Lisa) of Alexander; grandson, Ryan Yates; Sister, Pat Fisher of Arden; several nieces and nephews and her very special companion, her dog Baby. Graveside services will be held 11 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Green Hill Cemetery in Waynesville with Mark Fisher and Tammy Gibson bringing the message. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Monday at the funeral home.
