Weaverville Mildred Lacy Maynard Hensley, 88, formerly of Salem Church Road, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at Madison Health and Rehabilitation. A native of Yancey County, Mrs. Hensley had resided most of her life in Buncombe County. She was a devoted homemaker, and attended Asheville Freewill Baptist Church. Mrs. Hensley was the daughter of the late James Clyde and Rena Renfro Maynard, and the wife of Oscar Jerome Hensley, her husband of 64 years, who passed away September 29, 2010. She was also preceded in death by sisters: Gladys Schendell, Willie Hazel Myers, and Louise Rogers; and brother, J.C. Maynard. Surviving are her daughters: Jeanette Lee Sexton and Christine Vivian Hensley, both of Weaverville; granddaughter, Melissa Sexton Wilson of Alexander; great-granddaughters: Madeleine and Catrina Wilson, both of Alexander; great, great-granddaughter, Kenna Memory Crowder; sisters: Faye Gunn and Shirley Ray, both of Weaverville; brother, D.L. Maynard of Asheville; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 6:30 PM Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Troy Rogers and Rev. John Coffey officiating. Gravesides services will be held at 11:30 AM Friday at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 4:30-6:30 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
