Mildred Haney

Leicester – Mildred Elizabeth Davis Haney, 88, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Born on September 13, 1932 in Madison County, Mrs. Haney moved to Buncombe County in 1946, graduating from Leicester High School in 1950. She moved to Henderson County in 1969, and returned to Leicester in 2005. Mrs. Haney retired from Wal-Mart as a Retail Associate in 2014, and was a member of Lake Hills Church. She was an avid flower gardener and enjoyed sewing and embroidery work. Mrs. Haney was the daughter of the late Wayne and Margrette Marler Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Donald Dean Haney, who passed away August 11, 2016; her brother, Edward Davis; and her sisters: Shelba Jean Davis, and Marie Davis Baylor and her husband Radford. Surviving are her daughters: Donna Lynn Bain and husband James of Monroeville, AL, and Cathy Haney, Kelley Haney, and Shelley Haney, all of Leicester; two grandchildren: Savannah Burns-Roberts and husband Ty, and Brayden Burns; great-granddaughter, Elisabeth Jade Roberts; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Lake Hills Church, with the Rev. Paul Noe officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. A Time for Gathering will occur from 1:30 – 2:00 PM Thursday at the church to allow friends the opportunity to pay their respects to Mrs. Haney. The family respectfully requests that due to the COVID 19 pandemic, face masks be worn throughout the funeral service and that social distancing be observed at all times. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Four Seasons Hospice for the loving care that was given to their mother.
