Mike English

Asheville Fred Michael Mike English, 60, passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals. A native and lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mike was a former member of Sunrise Baptist Church. He was an avid lover of rock and roll music and classic cars. He enjoyed riding his bicycle and shopping, as well as watching wrestling, action movies, and American Pickers on TV. Mike never met a stranger, and will always be remembered as someone who could light up a room with his smile. Mike was the son of the late Fred Glendon English and Rosa Lee Shook Courtney. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gregory English. Surviving are his step-dad, Donald Rodney Courtney; sisters: Debbie English, and Nicole Courtney Penland and husband Joshua; brother, Larry English; niece, Shannon Martin and husband Chad; great-niece, Hayley; great-nephew, Nolan; and a host of extended family and close friends. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Sunrise Baptist Church.
