Mike Samuel Robinson, Sr., 64, passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. A native of Cherry Point, NC he resided in Buncombe County most of his life. He was the son of the late Samuel Wallace and Eveline Elizabeth Morgan Robinson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Ray Robinson. Mike graduated from Reynolds High School in 1969, where he was a standout athlete in basketball. He continued his basketball career at Western Carolina University, graduating in 1974 with a Bachelor of Business degree. In his early years, Mike worked at the local family business, Surfside Drive-in, where he lovingly received the nickname, Hotdog, a nickname that has stuck with him for over half a century. After graduating college, in true entrepreneurial spirit, he opened his own restaurant, My Brothers Mustache. A man of vision, he turned his pursuits towards realty, and spent the remainder of his career working independently on countless real estate endeavors. Mike carried his love of sports throughout his life, competing on the golf course and enjoying sporting events with his friends whenever possible. He was an active member at Ashevilles Elk Lodge, and a friend to all. Recalling his life, his humor and sharp wit could only be matched by his love, and devotion, to care for his family. Micheal is survived by his children: Jennifer Robinson and husband Christopher Hickman, and Michael Samuel Robinson, Jr, both of Asheville; sister, Brenda M. Gomez and husband Hilario Larry of Prairieville, LA; and lifelong friends: Gene O.J. and Marcia Degraphenreid, and Shirley and Jim Rider. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 13, 2015, at East Asheville United Methodist Church, 48 Browndale Rd, Asheville, with Rev. Annalee Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends for 1 hour prior to services at the church.
