Leicester - Michael Norman Mike McElreath, 50, of 147 Mink Farm Road, went to be with his Lord Monday, July 26, 2004 at Memorial Mission Hospital after a long illness. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. McElreath was a 1971 graduate of Enka High School and attended Georgia Tech and A-B Technical College. He was employed at Carolina Realty and Insurance Company. He was a member of the Asheville Board of Realtors and a former member of the Asheville Jaycees. He was a big NASCAR and Drag Racing Fan. His hobbies included restoration of cars. Mr. McElreath was a US Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, where he served as an air traffic controller. Surviving are his parents, Norman James and Lucille McMahon McElreath of Candler; daughter, Melissa M. Rousseau and husband Steve of Candler; son, Lucas Michael Cody of Mars Hill; one grandchild and his devoted girlfriend and companion, Wendy F. Long of Leicester Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home with the Rev. Ron Brown officiating. Entombment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park. with Military graveside rites conducted by the Buncombe County Veterans Council Memorial Team. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, and at other times, the family will be at the home of his parents, 7 Knoll Ridge Road, Woodside Hills, Candler.
