Asheville - Mayme Kidd Watts, 85, of 10 Evergreen Avenue, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, September 13, 2007 at her home. A native of Knoxville, TN, she had resided in Buncombe County since 1940. She retired from Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company with 33 years of service. Mrs. Watts was the daughter of the late Samuel and Mabel Porter Kidd, and was the widow of Woodrow Wilson Watts, who passed away May 21, 1977. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Sherman Kidd. Surviving are her sons: Larry Watts and wife Roxie of Greenville, SC, and Sam Watts of Asheville; granddaughter, Susan Harvey and husband Jimmy of Duncan, SC; two great-grandchildren, Bret and Brooke Harvey; sister, Helen Ball of Asheville; brother, Bob Kidd of Candler; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home, with the Rev. Enoch Ball, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends following the service. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM Monday in Green Hills Cemetery.
