Asheville - Anna Maye Helms Crosby, 67, of 547 Elida Home Rd., Compton Place Apts. # 112 died Thursday, March 25, 2004. A native and resident of Buncombe County most of her life. She was a devoted and loving mother and a member of Gospel Tabernacle. Mrs. Crosby was a daughter of the late John Thomas Helms and Ollie Crawford Helms and was the wife of the late Robert Nathan Crosby, formerly of Ridgeland, SC. Surviving are her daughters, Joyce Biggs and husband, Wayne of Asheville and Paula Roseborough and husband, Kevin of Arden; sons, Charles E. Sonny Sherlin and Karl Lynn Sherlin both of Asheville; sisters, Jeanette Ichols of Inman, SC and Ollie Jackson of Cowpens, SC; brothers, Henry Helms of Asheville, James Helms of Orlando, FL, Frank Helms of Spartanburg, SC, and Horace Helms of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including her special niece, Helen Gunnels of Greenville, SC; several great nieces and nephews including Denise Godley, Randy Lowe and Scott Lowe all of Greenville, SC. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday in the Anders-Rice Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eugene Dodd officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home immediately following the memorial service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Gospel Tabernacle, 202 Brickyard Rd., Asheville, NC 28806.
