Mary Virginia Brown

Asheville Mary Virginia Brown, 92, of Elk Mountain Road, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at the Western North Carolina Baptist Home. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, she retired from the National Climatic Data Center as a Meteorological Technician following 40 years of service. She was a graduate of Woodfin High School, graduated from Mars Hill College, and received her Bachelors Degree from Western Carolina Teachers College in 1943. She was a lifelong member of Newbridge Baptist Church where she served for 47 years as General Secretary. Miss Brown was the daughter of the late Dewey McKinley Brown and Mary Lou Wilson Brown and was also preceded in death by her brother, James Dewey J.D. Brown. Surviving are her niece, Beverly Wright and husband Pat and their children, Jay and Sarah and sister-in-law, Lucille Robinson all of Greensboro and numerous cousins and extended family. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Sunday, June 1, 2014 at Newbridge Baptist Church with Rev. Clark E. Henderson and Rev. J. Michael Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Cemetery.
