Asheville - Grandma Morgan, of Avondale Heights Road, went to Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, September 25, 2007 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Jackson County December 13, 1913, to Harvie and Lila Jane Styles Ammons. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jessie Lee Morgan, who died in 1977; twin sons; brothers: Burton and John Ammons of Sylva; sister, Lillie Robinson of Pelzer, SC; a special grandson, Burton Morgan; and great-grandson, Jesse Robinson. She is survived by her children: Joyce Brown of Mars Hill, Raymond and wife Pansy Morgan of Skyland, Cheryl Robinson of Asheville, Brenda and husband Charles Bass of Weaverville, Irene Hensley of Weaverville, Samuel and wife Diane Morgan of Woodfin, and James Morgan of Oakley; 24 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren, one very special great-granddaughter, Madison Leigh Robinson, and 2 great, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 PM Friday at Grace Independent Baptist Church, where she was a member for 49 years, with the Rev. Donald Hare, Rev. Bobby Smith, and Rev. Doug Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Emmas Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 PM Thursday at the church, and at other times at the home.
