Mary Porter Lewis

Pickens, SC - Mary Porter Lewis, 75, of 218 Pineview Dr., wife of William B. Lewis, died Saturday, July 27, 2002 at her home. Mrs. Lewis was born in Pickens County, daughter of the late Clarence Robert and Gertrude Finley Porter. She was a graduate of Furman University, was retired from the administration office of the Pickens County School District, and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Pickens. Mrs. Lewis was a former Miss Greenville, and was a 1st runner up in the Miss South Carolina Pageant. Surviving are her husband of the home: four sons, Phillip Lewis of Greenville, SC, Major William Greg Lewis of Germany, Brian Lewis of Easley, SC and Rev. Ken Lewis, Pastor of West Asheville Baptist Church, of Asheville; seven grandchildren, Sommer, Will, Shaun, Daniel, Amy, Caleb, and Matt. Funeral services will be held 11 AM Tuesday in the Chapel of Dilliard Memorial Funeral Home in Pickens with the Rev. Fred Stone and Rev.Carl Martin officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park by Dr. Lloyd E. Batson. The family received friends Monday evening from 6 until 8 PM at the funeral home.
