Mary Louise Gillis

Asheville - Mary Louise Plemmons Gillis, 79, formerly of 200 Tunnel Road, Apt. 522, passed away Thursday, January 1, 2009 at The Laurels of Summit Ridge. A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mrs. Gillis was the daughter of the late Zeb and Sarah Turner Plemmons and the wife of Herman F. Gillis, Jr., who passed away January 7, 1984. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Monica Marie Toth, brothers: Zeb Plemmons and Robert Lee (Bud) Plemmons; and a sister, Margaret Diaz. Surviving are her son, Herman F. Gillis, III and wife Brenda of Tega Cay, SC; grandchildren: Michael Gillis and wife Bridget and Kelly Cutrone and husband John, all of Fort Mill, SC; great-grandchildren: Greyson Cutrone, Madison Cutrone, Charlie Cutrone, and Emily Cutrone; sisters: Agnes McGeary and husband Donny, Ruth Rickman and husband Jim, and Lucille Bumgarner and husband Bobby, all of Asheville; brother, Frank Plemmons of Charlotte; and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Sunday at Anders-Rice Funeral Home. Private memorial services will be held at a later date.
